カイトム、中盤まで好投もリズム乱し勝ち逃す
主軸ケン・クレメンス負傷退場　グリズリー、三安打の固め打ち

滝之城址公園グラウンド, 所沢

残暑の厳しいなかでの試合となったが、滝之城址公園の外野の芝生も見事に整備され、改めてこのグラウンドのすばらしさを知った。

〜ゲームの見どころ〜

ゲームは中盤まで拮抗した内容だったが、4回表、先頭の凡二ゴロを藤原があさって方向に送球。一塁土屋までわずか7mの距離。過去の統計を見ると、藤原は8m以内の送球のほとんどでまごついていることが判明。俗にいう"wild chicken"ってやつだ。送球が定まらない意味での「暴れ鶏」と「虚勢を張る小心者」を掛けたスラングだ。ここまで、四球に苦しみながらも要所を抑えていた先発カイトは、試合後こう語っている。

「正直あのプレーで気持ちが切れましたね。あそこから流れがガラッと変わってしまいました。悔やまれますね。5ウラに豊蔵さんがフェンス直撃の安打を放つも一塁止まり。僕なら三塁をも狙おうかっていう打球でしたがね。正直豊蔵さん、歩いてるのかと思いましたよ、ははは。ま、それはそれとして、それを藤原さんが茶化して『走れ』だの『リードが足りない』だの言ってたら、豊蔵さん、負傷しちゃいましたね。その代走に出た藤原さんときたら、これ見よがしに盗塁したりして三塁まで行っちゃって。『よく見とけ！走塁とはこうやるもんだ』みたいな感じでなんか大人げなかったですね。そのあと藤原さん、キャッチャーにまわって、フライ追いかけてダイビングしたんだけど、惜しくも捕れなくて。ナイスファイトだったけど、これで胸やあごを強打して、ここから藤原さん、すっかりやる気無くしちゃいましたね。あんなにはしゃいでたのに、ぱったり声も出さなくなって、動きも極端に鈍くなりましたよね。正直キャプテンとしての資質を疑いますね。

ほかに気になった点ですか？そうですね、華々しいデビューを飾ったエンディさんですが、この試合はさっぱりでしたね。中島さんのパターンを踏襲しないことを祈ります。父からは、『なかじはいい選手だった』って聞いてます。『だった』ですって。ははは。確かにエンディさんの守備は凄くて、見習うところも多いんですが、この試合でスパイクのかかとがはがれちゃって、ちょっとダサかったですね。（編集者注：この試合、エンディはきっちり安打を放っておりました）

ま、僕ら父子がいないとこのチームはまわっていかないってことですよ、要するに。いろいろあった試合でしたが、田沢さん、ひとり三安打してすごい上機嫌でしたよ。

と、カイトが熱く語った。らしい。

Tarchars flex muscles in win over SOX
But Sox, they showed the good defense in at every turn

NISHI-TOYAMA PARK, TKO-- The Tarchars knocked Kaitom Seaver around for a career-high five runs over 4 innings. Kaitom Seaver had a fight against not only his control but also the judgement not to be consistent of the umpire. However, he couldn't but continue throwing it. Rookie Endy Alomar of the expectation ended in no hits, too on that day. I couldn't but be discouraged, but the Sox fan might deserve this result if the good defense seen everywhere paid money and watched it.

SOX, Tarchars finish without a winner in season's first tie
Kaitom Seaver his first appeared as Sox' starting pitcher

NISHI-TOYAMA PARK, TKO-- Kaitom suffered in the early stages, but in the counterattack that assumed Endy Alomar an axis, the situation reversed.The last inning, the batted ball of Naka Zito soars up into the between the right and center with the runner 2nd and 3rd. 3rd runner Hiro Seaver entered the home slowly when he confirmed that the batted ball fell. 5-5 tie. And 2nd runner Stick Thomas should've been able to return in margin, too. A nightmare took him the next moment. He who had a pulled muscle died of indignation at a home plate. Stick linked the name in the DL of 20 days on the same day.

But Sox may greatly undergo a complete change in future. 'cos Sox added two talented young guns to their roster. Endy Alomar Jr. and Kaitom Seaver. The fan was able to help excitement for their appearance.

"That was some damage", Sox manager Ken Clemens said. "I've ever seen such a poor defence before. I will not see in future either."

PIONEER KAWAGOE STADIUM , ST-- Sox right-hander Lou Vaughn surrendered six runs with just one out in the first inning. Oldest but an incredible ace Hiro Seaver urgently pitched just after that. He only allowed one-run by five remaining innings. Oziggie Smith hits two singles and doubled in the fifth inning. Naka Zito hits three singles with two RBIs.

However, Sox two pitchers, Seaver and Grizzlie threw to the last.

TODA HOKUBU-PARK , ST-- The weather warmed up for the day game -- but the strong wind troubled players. The Daikan-yama Raptors won both games at Toda hokubu Park Saturday, beating the New Place City Sox 7-3 in game one and by a 5-0 final in game two. Two persons of a slugger, Naka Zito and Yossie Clark, cannot but say a cause of defeat as the body which was no hit. Naka Zito is 11 times-at-bat no hit so far. Yossie Clark made it not only being unable to hit but two errors.

Veteran old pitcher Hiro Seaver allowed 10hits in 6 innings

TAKINOJO-PARK , ST-- Sox stars shine brightly on a beautiful Opening Day. But Dodgers beat the Sox on saturday, 10-1, in front of many crowed. "I did not get tired that inning," Seaver said. "That was pretty obvious. When I dove for that ball, I knocked the wind out a little bit and I just didn't have enough to make a pitch. Some infield hits, some balls late that found some holes. But I'm super excited the way the ball is coming out of may hand. I felt very good with command."

Mets' pitcher Shirahama threw seven scoreless innings !

TAKINOJO-PARK , ST-- Sox quiet as Seaver, Grizzlie unable to contain Mets. Try as they might, the Sox could not figure out Mets' right-hander Shirahama. He only two-hit the Sox seven innings as the Mets won, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Takinojo Park. Shirahama delivered by far the best outing of his career, giving up just a single, a double and striking out nine without walk. "I think it had a lot to do with it," Sox manager Ken Cremens Jr. said. "But he's also got great stuff. He's got a live arm, command of his breaking ball. I was very impressed. He pitched inside when he wanted to. Threw the ball great."

"It's a good first win of the year," Seaver said. "Obviously, it's good. I've thrown the ball well. You've got to go out there and throw up zeroes. You're going to have games where you pitch well and don't get the win. And you're going to have games where you pitch bad and get the win. Over the course of the season, it evens out."

Enjoys' big bats make Sox pay on Summer Holiday
Hiro Seaver serves up nine Enjoys hits in defeat

TAKINOJO-PARK , ST-- Enjoys pounded nine hits off Sox starter Hiro Seaver. The veteran right-hander pulled the glove off his hand and walked slowly to the dugout, where Sox catcher Ozzigie Smith greeted him with a soft tap on the back.
Seaver probably needed the suport at that moment, but his men couldn't help him. they, not to mention it, always made the error and just hindered him.
"I didn't have my straight in the first inning on throughout the game." Seaver said. "I didn't have my straight today, and I had a lot of problems getting right-handers."
Sox catcher Ozzigie Smith said the stright was the pitch that caused Hiro Seaver problems in the opening inning. But some quick changes in strategy paid off. "After that, we made adjustments, started using the curve more and after that, the slider," Smith said. "He was able to cruise through the next game."

ソックスはわずかに二安打。超軟投派「右の工藤」にしてやられたり。

戸田北部公園野球場-埼玉県戸田市-- ラプターズは短打と四球をからませ得点を重ね、対ソックス戦二連勝。ラ軍は大振りをせず、コツコツ当てていく得意の手法で四球の走者などをうまく生還させ、4回までに8点をもぎ取りヴォーンをマウンドから引きずり降ろした。一方ソックスはと言えば、ヴォーン以上の超軟投派「右の工藤」を攻略できず、放った安打はわずかに2であった。これでは勝てるわけがありませんね。
